The example provided of why visual iconography are so important is that it says that iconography reveal the codes and conventions. Moreover, everything seen are the iconography which all indicate to the audience what the genre could be. 

2) What examples are provided of the importance of narrative in identifying genre?
In the article, it is stated that not only iconography can indicate genre but also can the narrative or a plot of the story. The genre depends on the way the narrative of the story is. 

3) What is the difference between character representation in action movies and disaster movies?
In the article, they represent characters in action and disaster movies to be extremely paradoxical to each other. Characters in in action movies tend to be more masculine and independent while conflict but however, in disaster movies, the protagonist's are usually in a group fighting to solve the problem. So the characters in disaster movies tend to be more afraid hence the reason why they are always in a group but the characters in action movies are fearless and solitary. 

4) What are the different ways films can be categorised according to Bordwell? 
According to Bordwell, there are different ways films can be categorised such as his methods of categorisation. His methods of categorisation includes what country and what time of period the movie was set. Moreover, it also depends on the director of the movie to see what kind of movie the director mostly makes. Furthermore, it depends on the technical process and the style of the movie; how the characters act and are presented. And also, if the movie has series of its own or not like the James bond and also, what kind of audience the movie has. These are the things that categorise films according to Bordwell. 


5) List three ways genre is used by audiences.
Firstly, the audiences use their prior knowledge to see if they enjoy the text or not. This benefits the audience when they select a media text such as Magazines. Moreover, the audiences consume the media and they are likely to know what genre the media is through what they see. Their description of the media would most likely involve the genre of the media. Furthermore, some texts are a certain type of genre that the audiences will dislike and they will avoid the text and wouldn't want to consume it. Lastly, the audience will use genre which helps them to expect some things in that certain genre.

6) List three ways genre is used by institutions or producers.
The producers use examples of genre to look at the mistakes created and this helps the producers to replicate the genre but of course, not replicate the mistakes created. They look at popular genres. So they use examples of genre to look at and replicate it and make it more successful. Moreover, genre are certainly created to attract audiences. For example, many people love to watch SC-FI genre movies, the producer will make his movie a science fiction movie as the movie is most likely to be successful. Additionally, the producers use genre to also attract the fans and to fulfil their expectations. 

7) What film genre is used as an example of how genres evolve? What films and conventions are mentioned?
The film genre that is used as an example of how genres evolve is Horror. Genres are easy to identify. It is easy to identify through the conventions. Iconography are mentioned which indicates to the audience what genre it could be. Moreover, films such as Blade and Scream are used. And these two movies are extremely famous movies.
