Film Review

For this task, I will be reviewing the movie "Ill Manors" and will be analysing the movie with key points.

The director of the movie "Ill Manors" was Ben Drew. Ben Drew is also referred to as Plan B as this movie, was his first ever movie that he has directed. Moreover, he made this movie to reach out to consumers to make them understand how the working class people in the Britain are suffering with these drugs possessions, corruptions and poverty.  I think that Ben Drew is a very creative director considering that this movie is his first ever movie.

This movie's casts is a huge cast as there are more than 3 main characters that the movie is focused on. The main character is Riz Ahmed who is casted as "Aaron" in the movie and this character is mainly a bad person but is good at times in the movie. He gets involved in bad things with the wrong people. Also, we have Ed Skrein who is casted as "Ed" and he plays the bad role in the most of the film and is friends with "Aaron". Not many consumers will be familiar with these two characters as they are not really known well by the public. This movie had a low budget. Ed Skrein now is known for the bad role as "Ajax" in Deadpool and also casting in the series of Game of Thrones.

Moreover, this film is a very significant, versatile and intriguing film when it comes to the narrative. The narrative of the film was directed by Ben drew who made the narrative to reflect the poor environment in council estate areas in Britain. It is trying show how the working class people are struggling so some of the people go off to wrong directions. Moreover, the movie is essentially about these 4 drug dealers that are in a pessimistic position as well as the user and the two prostitutes.

With the characters, Ed Skrein plays the "Ed" who is a character that is mainly evil with the actions that he does. Also, Riz Ahmed plays as "Aaron" who is stuck between whether to be in the good side or be in the bad side. Anouska Mond plays the "Michelle" role where she is imposed to sell her body to strangers and is extremely addicted to drugs. Nick Sagar plays the "Marcel" role where he is an evil character with the way he manipulates and forces a young kid to commit crime. The acting quality of these actors and the other actors are tremendous as they make every scene very realistic. Their facial expressions, body language and every convention of acting is met.

Moreover, with genre, this movie would be considered Drama and crime fiction as the Iconography and other elements such as Narrative show it. Also, with the rapping narrator "Ben Drew", his rapping while the movie is a very interesting and an appeal to the audience as it has a synergy with the genre of the movie which are both urban. This movie in my perspective, does meet the expectations for this type of film as I expected a huge amount of inappropriate and graphic scenes. It is a typical content for a crime fiction movie as well as drama which is trying to reflect the real life events that take place in Britain. Lastly, with the mood of the film, I would describe it intense and gloomy as during the whole film, there is always suspicions and there are always enigma codes for the audience to break.

Additionally, the soundtrack within the film was a very effective element. With the rapping narrator during the movie, I thought it was very effective as it brought every consumers together so that they know the lifestyle and know deeper on what is going on in the film currently. This created atmosphere as some narrating suggested some things which the consumers felt a little agitated as to what might happen in the following narrative of the movie.

Lastly, with the audience, I think it would be mainly aimed at working class people as the purpose of the movie is trying to show how working class people in Britain, in Council estate areas are becoming corrupted which the working class people can relate. Moreover, middle class people might be aimed at too as they might have an insight of what has happened to them and it is quite of a surveillance.
